Bentala Fragrances at Pesta Rakyat Ubud 2025
Celebrating Indonesian Heritage Through Scent, Textiles, and Cinema
On Sunday, 17 August 2025, Bentala Fragrances joined the vibrant celebration of Pesta Rakyat, a special pop-up market and cultural festival hosted by Sore Sore of Titik Dua Ubud, in celebration of Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day. This event honored the big day by blending the artistry of traditional textiles with the magic of cinema and festive experience in a theme called Berkain & Bersinema.
A Cultural Celebration in the Heart of Ubud with a Rich Tapestry of Activities
Pesta Rakyat was more than just a celebration — it was an immersive cultural experience. The celebration was extra special, serving as the soft launch of Titik Dua’s curated audiovisual program, “Ubud: Cinecurious”. The day was filled with activities and performances that celebrated Indonesian traditions while offering fresh, modern interpretations:
· Textile Workshop with Manikan – Discovering the beauty and meaning behind Indonesian traditional fabrics through weaving patterns exploration and cultural storytelling.
· Independence Textile Competition presented by Bagasi – A showcase of creativity and national pride.
· DJ Performances by Monty Hasan and Erin Sab – Bringing modern beats to the heritage-inspired event.
· Film Screening of Before, Now & Then – Written and directed by Kamila Andini, starring Happy Salma and Laura Basuki. This 2022 award-winning Indonesian period drama, which premiered at the 72nd Berlin International festival and won the Silver Bear, transported audiences into the emotional landscapes of a woman navigating the turbulent times of 1940s–1960s rural Indonesia.
Bentala Fragrances at the Pop-Up Market
Amid the lively market stalls and cultural showcases, Bentala Fragrances brought the art of scent as a sensory journey to the bustling event. As an Indonesian perfume brand, we want to capture the soul of the archipelago, from the grounding essence of mountains to the refreshing spirit of the ocean. Many visitors explored our signature perfumes, each inspired by the beauty of Indonesia’s landscapes and stories.
Our participation at Pesta Rakyat was more than just a market appearance—it was an opportunity to connect scent with memory, weaving our fragrances into the sensory tapestry of the day.

Why This Collaboration Matters
This year’s Pesta Rakyat theme reflects a love for Indonesian culture in all its forms—celebrating heritage textiles and storytelling through film. For Bentala, it aligns perfectly with our mission: to honor Indonesia’s natural beauty and rich heritage through the art of fragrance.
Just as a woven kain holds stories within its threads, and a film captures emotions in moving images, our perfumes preserve moments and memories in scent.
